Mario Siragusa is a partner of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen
& Hamilton, based in the Rome office and spends
a substantial part of his time in the Brussels office.
His practice focuses on corporate and commercial matters
and he specializes in EC and Italian competition law
and complex commercial litigation. Mr. Siragusa appears
frequently before the European Court of Justice, the
Court of First Instance of the European Communities,
the Directorate General for Competition of the European
Commission, as well as the Italian Antitrust Authority
and Italian civil and administrative courts. He joined
the firm in 1973 and became partner in 1980.
Mr Siragusa lectures regularly at conferences throughout
the USA and Europe and has published numerous articles
in US and European legal journals. He is a professor
at the College of Europe in Bruges and lectures at the
Catholic University in Milan. He is a member of the
Commission on Law and Practices Relating to Competition
of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris. He
is also a member of the Rome Bar.
Mr. Siragusa graduated with honors from the Law School
of Rome University in 1970 and received a Diploma of
High European Studies from the College of Europe in
Belgium in 1971. He received an LL.M. degree from Harvard
in 1972. He is a native Italian speaker and is fluent
in English and French.
