COMPETITION COMMISSION INVITES EVIDENCE ON THE ACQUISITION
BY SCR-SIBELCO SA OF FIFE SILICA SANDS LIMITED AND FIFE RESOURCES LIMITED
Stephen Byers, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry,
has asked the Competition Commission to look into the acquisition by SCR-Sibelco
SA of certain assets of Anglo Pacific Group PLC, namely, Fife Silica Sands
Ltd and Fife Resources Ltd.
The Commission has been asked to report to the Secretary
of State for Trade and Industry by 12 April 2001. Its report will be published
at a later date.
The Commission would like to hear views on the merger
from all interested parties by 31 January. To submit evidence please either
