Council
The Council is the CC’s strategic management board; it is led by the Chairman and consists of the three Deputy Chairmen, the Chief Executive, and three non-executive Council members. Council meet at least six times a year to consider the plans and strategic direction of the CC and to review recent inquiries, high level risks and discuss best practice across inquiry groups.

Quarterly summary of accounts
The Competition Commission (CC) has a very unpredictable workload, it cannot initiate its own inquiries, and it is difficult to predict with much accuracy the workload for the coming months. The CC can only investigate a merger or market which has been referred to it by the Office of Fair Trading, an industry regulator or the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). The CC's budgeting process is therefore reviewed regularly to ensure it reflects the latest prediction of work; and BIS is fully informed about how the CC is achieving its targets against its budgets, on a regular basis.

Charging regimes and policies
Where the manner of publication of information is described as ‘web format’, access to the relevant web site is free of charge (ie there is no charge by us, although the user would have to meet any charges by their Internet service provider, printing costs etc).
There is a charge where we supply hard copies on request. The charges will be at cost and payment is required before delivery. However, costs may be waived at our discretion and normally will be in the case of one or two page documents.
